Bill Mejia

Bill is Managing Director of Closing, Construction, and Servicing Operations and Associate General Counsel at Gershman Investment Corp. He is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the closing, construction administration and loan servicing functions. In his role as Associate General Counsel, Bill provides legal guidance to the corporation, its employees, officers, and directors. Prior to joining Gershman in 2020, Bill was an attorney specializing in mortgage lending, loan servicing, and economic development. He began his career with the HUD Office of General Counsel in Kansas City and was responsible for the closing of Multifamily and Healthcare loan transactions and advising HUD program offices in their implementation of HUD programs including RAD, Section 8, Public Housing, CDBG and HOME. After his time at HUD, Bill worked in private practice representing lenders, housing authorities, local governments, and developers in real estate transactions.

Bill received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. He also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Economics and Political Science from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
